WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., – The USTA has announced that Dan Waldman from Washington, DC will represent the United States at the 32nd ITF Seniors World Team Championships. The nation’s top tennis players in age groups 35+ to 55+ will compete against teams from 35 countries coming from around the globe February 6-11, 2012. The event will be held at seven different sites in the San Diego, CA area. Over 1,000 athletes are expected to participate.

Joining Waldman, representing the United States at the 2012 ITF Seniors World Team Championships in the Austria Cup for men 55 & over are Sal Castillo, San Antonio, TX, Ross Persons, Houston, TX (Captain), and Geoff Martinez, San Rafael, CA.

Waldman, who is also President of International Club of the US, is no stranger to international competition. Among other titles, he has won two ITF World Singles Championships and two ITF World Doubles Championships. In 2011, he won the US National 55 Clay Court Singles Championship.

The United States is the defending champion in five of the 10 divisions at the Men’s and Women’s Senior Championships.

Following the ITF Seniors World Team Championships, the ITF Senior World Individual Championships will take place February 12-19 at some of the same sites in the San Diego area.

The ITF Seniors/Super-Seniors World Team Championships is the most coveted team event on the ITF Seniors circuit.  Since its inception, the number of competitors attracted to this event has increased year by year. In 1993, the ITF took the decision to divide the Seniors World Championships into two groups, Seniors for the younger veterans and Super-Seniors for the older players.
