Mid-Atlantic is focusing on presenting tennis opportunities towards the Military Community within the USTA/Mid-Atlantic Section. The intent is to encourage tennis for the healthful, recreational and social benefits to all active duty, their families, Wounded Warriors and retired personnel.

Tennis on Military Bases
USTA/Virginia offers a USTA/VA Military Incentive Program which provides tennis professionals and support to military bases interested in starting tennis programming. This program was established in 2008 and continues to be a great support system for the military.
Arthur Allmond, Retired US Navy and Chair of the USTA/VA Community Tennis Committee, and Shell Wood are in contact with Ft. Eustis Moral, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. USTA/VA has coordinated with Ft Eustis MWR to establish a junior tennis program beginning June 2010 with the support of the USTA/VA Military Incentive Program. Ft Eustis plans to host a Tennis Block Party to generate interest in the program this summer.
The NOVA Family Enrichment Program at Ft. Belvoir continues to flourish as a Community Tennis Association and National Junior Tennis and Learning organization. They have run USTA Adult Leagues and USTA Jr. Team Tennis and hosted Tennis Night in America events and various USTA workshops.
Ft. Monroe Youth Services is in its 3rd year of offering junior and adult tennis programming.
Richmond Tennis Association, Sportable and USTA/Virginia continue to support wheelchair tennis programming throughout Richmond with numerous Wounded Warriors participating.
USTA/Virginia collaborated with MATEF to bring wheelchair tennis players representing our Wounded Warrior programs to Army Navy Country Club, in Arlington, VA, to participate in the MATEF Pro-Am in February 2010.
USTA/Virginia continues to utilize contacts at all military bases in Virginia to promote USTA programming and membership, including Junior Team Tennis, Leagues, and QuickStart.
Wayne Bryan, Stan Smith, and Sportable player, Preston Curry, a former US Army Automated Logistics Specialist at the Mid-Atlantic Tennis and Education Foundation Pro-Am.
Arthur Allmond, USTA/Virginia Chair and formerly in the US Navy, conducts a Tennis Block Party at Fort Monroe.
