Our History
The Mid-Atlantic Tennis & Education Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1989 and is currently located in McLean, Virginia.
The primary goal of the Mid–Atlantic Tennis & Education Foundation is to provide at–risk youths and those from financially challenged backgrounds, unique opportunities that combine tennis with academic enrichment. The Foundation recognizes the importance of education, health, good citizenship and good sportsmanship. We support all youth regardless of race, creed or ethnic background with a focus on those who are financially challenged.
Camp Scholarships Scholarships are awarded to youth from low income backgrounds to participate in a camp experience including tennis and education. Our primary camp partner is the 4-Star Summer Camps program at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. This is a four day, three night experience of tennis and academic instruction combined with social activities. The Mid-Atlantic Tennis and Education Foundation has provided hundreds of camper grants for youths to have the opportunity to experience the 4-Star Summer Camps program.
Individual High Performance Grants Grants are awarded to financially challenged junior players maintaining certain academic, sportsmanship and high performance success standards. These players receive financial assistance needed to cover expenses generated by participation in tennis tournaments within the United States or abroad.
Robert Marsteller Courage Award Established in 2001 to recognize individuals with tennis backgrounds who have exhibited superior courage in overcoming adversity.
