Sectional League Coordinator Pam Leibfreid said: I am sure all league players are anxious to determine their new end-of-year rating. It is anticipated that ratings will be published some time the first week of December. Go into TennisLink, and click on Find a Rating. When the date states 12/31/09, you will know that is your end of year rating. Ratings are published by the USTA, and not by this office. Therefore, contacting us and asking about ratings will be of no help to you. If there is any change concerning when these ratings will be published, we will update this notice. Thanks and good luck to all of you.

Very few medical appeals should be granted, as it is usually better to let the computer determine the NTRP Skill Level based on actual match play. If injury or illness is not permanently disabling, an appeal cannot be granted even if treatment, recovery and/or rehabilitation may take a year or longer. Individuals respond to injuries and/or illnesses in different ways so it is hard to predict the impact on their skill level. Many illnesses, such as osteoarthritis, are chronic, progressive, permanent conditions. However, the rate of progression of the illness, resulting symptoms and degree of impairment, as well as reaction to medication and treatment, varies in different people. Most individuals actually play better after knee, hip and shoulder surgery due to decrease in pain and possible increase in mobility from their pre-operative status. Most individuals who have heart disease, cancer, etc., if medically released to play tennis, will probably be able to play at their previous skill level. If medically released to play tennis, potential pain, shortness of breath and risk of injury should not be factors in determining NTRP skill level, as these could occur no matter what NTRP level playing.

The National USTA League Tennis Committee has issued "Self Rate Guidelines" which are effective immediately and provide a remedy for flagrant cases of mis-rating. Flagrant mis-rating is defined as a player who self-rates at one NTRP level when their actual skill level is at the top of the next NTRP level or higher. The National Leagues Committee considers such acts to be a violation of the standards of good conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship, to which all League players are bound per Regulation 2.02.
